Marshmello, Dillon Francis, Major Lazer to Play Save Our Stages Livestream Festival
Together with live music in dire straits, the race is on to rescue iconic independent places.
Live audio and the planet’s most historical places continue to drop under economic stress because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As stimulus talks have stalled at the United States, a significant quantity of places, including most recently Washington’s U Street Music Hall, have declared permanent closure.
Consequently , a rescue mission is dealt with the Save Our Stages music festival, a project assembled by the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) in partnership with YouTube.
The forthcoming livestream event will see a number of the biggest names in music, for example a couple of dance music’s most important producers, taking into a combined total of over 25 specific places. The lineup includes a broad group of actors, such as Dave Matthews, who is performing Charlottesville’s Jefferson Theater, and Foo Fighters, who will play at the famous Troubadour in LA–a place which found itself at risk of permanent closure following the onset of the pandemic.
NIVA’s board treasurer Stephen Sternschein reported the concept of the festival started”with the premise that every great artist started their career at an independent, small stage, somewhere around the country.” From that point, organizers started calling musicians explaining the festival’s assignment and gauging interest. Dance music will be nicely represented with Marshmello, Dillon Francis, and Major Lazer all having answered the call to take part.
The provincial event will probably be sourcing gifts for your NIVA Emergency Relief Fund. Fans can catch all the action kicking off October 16th just on the NIVA YouTube channel.
