Marshmello donates $50,000 to fight racism: “Underneath this costume, I am human and this is my tipping point”

Marshmello has donated tens of thousands of dollars in the fight against racism.

The US DJ and producer, that was today (June 5) demonstrated by Forbes to have an estimated net worth of $56 million (£49.9 million), said that he is a “human” underneath his renowned stage mask and the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis a week is his “tipping point”.

“I’t always remained neutral with my platform but only like you underneath this costume I am human and this is my first tipping point,” he composed on Twitter on Sunday (May 31). “Black civilization and influence play a role in the music I make. Injustices that the community that is black confront on a daily basis and the racism is something that no white person begin to understand or has the ability to relate to. ”

He added: “Racism shouldn’t be tolerated and it is up to our generation to function as change especially in times when our government might ’we are united by t even. ”

“It is all up to us to deliver justice for George Floyd and the many others that lost their own lives and finally make this hateful racist complex crumbling to the ground…if you’re a real fan of mine you will do your part to stand up and then join us. ”

The producer revealed on Monday (June 1) that he created a $50,000 (£39,000) contribution into the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

He also shared several connections to Many Different organisations including the Black Visions Collective, Equal Justice Initiative and National Bail Out.

Protests against the death of Floyd continue in the US and internationally nowadays. Floyd, 46, has been immobilized by the neck by producer Derek Chauvin, that has been charged with murder and manslaughter. As well as Chauvin, three other officers now all face charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder, and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.

Dozens of musicians have known for justice for Floyd and have lent their aid to the Black Lives Matter songs, including Jay-ZRihanna, Dr Dre and Lady Gaga.

Marshmello’s newest generation work comes from the form of G-Eazy’s new tune, ‘Stand By Me’.

He collaborated with Halsey for ‘Be Kind’, published last month.
