‘iCarly’ Is Back a Decade Later—Here’s What the Original Cast Looks Like Then & Now

Those who grew up seeing Nickelodeon may have forgotten how older Miranda Cosgrove had been in iCarly.  ICarly started on Nickelodeon in September 2007, meaning that Cosgrove could ’ve been 14 at the time the series came out.

The series followed a teenaged girl called Carly Shay (Cosgrove), that made her own web show termed iCarly together with her very best friends, Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) and Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress), in the apartment attic she along with her older brother, Spencer (Jerry Trainor), reside in in Seattle, Washington. On the surprise of her and her friends, It doesn’t wait for iCarly to be an internet phenomenon, and with their viral celebrity, Carly, Sam and Freddie found themselves in more wacky scenarios. The series was made by Dan Schneider, who also produced The Amanda Show, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, Victorious along with other Nickelodeon shows. ICarly conducted for six seasons before its finale in November 2012. Cosgrove has been 19 at the exact time that the series ended.

Back in December 2020, news broke an iCarly reboot was in the functions for Paramount+ with Cosgrove, Kress and Trainor reprising their original roles. The series also included two new characters, Harper (played by Laci Mosley), Carly’s roommate as well as also an aspiring fashion designer, and Millicent (played by Jaidyn Triplett), Freddie’s precocious stepdaughter. One original cast member noticeably missing from the resurrection would be Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam.

Back in March, McCurdy affirmed in an episode of the podcast, “Empty Inside, she wouldn’t be starring in the resurrection because she’d stopped acting. “My mother put me inside when I was 6 years, and by sort old, I suppose, 10 or 11 I had been the main financial support for my own family,” she stated in the time. “It had been very much the pressure of my entire family didn’t have a good deal of money, which was the way outside,” she said, “that I think was useful in driving me to a level of success. ”

She lasted, “I finally quit after my mother passed away, as with her passing kind of died a lot of her thoughts for my life, which was its own journey and also a difficult one for certain. ” She went on to reveal her acting profession left her “so unfulfilled from the roles that I played and felt like it had been the most just cheesy, embarrassing” thing.

That said, there are still three primary cast members that are in the iCarly Update: Miranda Cosgrove (Carly), Nathan Kress (Freddie) and Jerry Trainor (Spencer.) Cosgrove surfaced as the lead part in iCarly, Carly Shay, the adolescent host of a web show also called iCarly. She was 14 when the series premiered and 19 when it ended. She was 28 at the time that the iCarly reboot premiered.  After iCarly finished, Cosgrove, who had also starred in Nickelodeon shows like Drake and Josh and Zoey 101, proceeded to star in the NBC sitcom, Crowded, that ran for one time in 2016. One of her most notable roles out iCarly was the voice of Margo from the Despicable Me franchise. She debuted since Margot in the very first Despicable Me 2010 and moved on to star in six more films. Cosgrove also starred in music videos for songs such as Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” in 2013 and Marshmello’s “Happier” in 2018.

In 2011, Cosgrove, who is an only son and was home schooled almost all of her lifetime, was accepted into New York University and the University of Southern California. She finally chose USC, therefore she could be nearer to her family and continue acting. She began attending the school in the fall of 2012 with a major in picture. She later changed her major to psychology.

Kress surfaced as among Carly’s best friends and neighbor, and Freddie Benson, who also was the specialized manufacturer of the literary iCarly. He was 15 at the time that the series came outside and 20 when it ended. He was 28 when the resurrection premiered. After iCarly finished, Kress acted in shows like Hawaii Five-0 and also Star Wars Rebels, in addition to reprised his role as Freddie from the iCarly spinoff, Sam & Cat. He also starred in movies like Into the Storm and Tell Me How I Die. Back in May 2015, Kress got engaged to his Into the Storm co-star, London Elise Moore. Trainor played Spencer, Carly’s older brother and a artist, who she lived with their Seattle loft. Trainor has been 30 years old at the time iCarly came out and was 35 when the series finished. He was 44 when Paramount+’s iCarly reboot premiered. After iCarly, Trainor surfaced in his own Nickelodeon series, Wendell & Vinnie, that ran for one season in 2013. He also reprised his role as Spencer in Sam & Cat, as well as acted in shows like Two Broke Girls, No Good Nick, Apocalypse Goals and Law & Order: True Crime.  At 2015, Trainor formed a group called Nice Enough People, where he played . The guitarist of the group, Allison Scagliotti, co-starred with him Drake & Josh. The band released their first EP, Hanover Hideaway, in 2016.
