Billboard & Triller Partner on Weekly Top Triller U.S. & Global Charts

Armaan Malik’s “Next 2 Me” leads both of Billboard’s inaugural charts featured data from social video app Triller, announced today, July 13.

The pair of charts, named Top Triller U.S. and Top Triller Global, highlight the biggest songs on the app based on a formula blending the amount of views of videos containing a respective songs, the level of engagement with those videos and the raw total of videos uploaded featuring each song, according to Triller. Data for the charts is represented on a Friday-Thursday tracking week, with the latest period running July 3-9.

The Top Triller charts signify the start of a partnership between Billboard and Triller, a social media video app featuring user-generated videos set to music and much more, to further highlight how music is being utilized on leading social media platforms. The charts are planned as weekly installments and will concurrently highlight some of the top-performing individual videos for the highest-ranking songs.

Released in mid-June, Indian singer Malik’s “Next 2 Me,” which discusses isolation during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, leads both the Top Triller U.S. and Top Triller Global charts. Malik himself had the largest video on Triller for the song in the tracking week, a July 2-uploaded clip that has 11.7 million global plays as of press time (July 13), according to Triller.

U.S. chart watchers are likely familiar with the No. 2 song on the U.S. list dated July 18: Saweetie’s “Tap In.” Also released in mid-June, the track debuted on multiple Billboard charts dated July 11 and continues its climb in streams in the latest tracking frame, earning 3.8 million on-demand U.S. streams, up 32%, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Its top Triller clip for the week was also artist-uploaded; Saweetie’s July 4 video featuring the song has garnered 1.2 million views at press time. She’s featured twice on the inaugural U.S. chart; “My Type” bows at No. 16.
